Jim Chivers

Jim joined Gold and Company in September 2006.  Jim specializes in office and industrial sales and leasing.  Over the past several years Jim has gained valuable experience in the Baltimore market as a commercial real estate broker.

A sampling of Jim’s transactions include:

  • Represented American Slate Company, Walnut Creek, CA, a national distributor of slate products, in a 52,800 sf warehouse lease in Baltimore City for their east coast distribution center.
  • Represented Distinctive Stationery, a local stationary printing company, in a 17,000 sf lease in Arbutus. 
  • Assisted in the sale of 2931 Whittington Ave., a 10,800 sf maintenance facility, to Clean Ventures, Inc., an Elizabeth, NJ, based environmental contractor. 
  • Represented United Rentals, a NYSE-listed equipment rental company, in the purchase of a 5-acre parcel in Northern Anne Arundel County where they constructed a new freestanding facility. 
  • Represented office tenants with leases in downtown, Federal Hill, Canton, Columbia, and Reisterstown. 
  • Represented tenants with flex space requirements in Glen Burnie, East Baltimore, South Baltimore, and White Marsh.  
  • Represented Autoparts International with eight leases across Maryland.

Jim holds a Bachelor Degree from Loyola College in Maryland.  He was a four-year member of the Division I Loyola College Greyhounds basketball team and served as captain his junior and senior years.  He won the team leadership award his senior year.

He remains active with basketball:  during the season he is the color commentator for Greyhound Basketball on ESPN and XM radio, he periodically plays in pro-am tournaments, he coaches high school teams, and he plays regularly at Cal Ripken’s home court.

Jim is a licensed real estate salesperson in the State of Maryland with a Commercial Designation.  A native of Minnesota, Jim has real estate in his genes.  His father owns a successful real estate brokerage company in the resort community of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
